About Us
My daughter and I with our sweet Baby E. He is a 5-year-old Oldenburg, standing at 18+ hands tall (+6ft).
My name is Adrienne Hillary and my work as a coach, early childhood educator and equine assisted specialist is rooted in a lifelong connection to both children and horses. Born and raised in Boulder, CO I earned my BS with a minor in Early Childhood, from the University of Northern Colorado. Followed by a MA in Educational Psychology (K-12) from the University of Colorado Denver, through Boulder Journey schools' master program.
With nearly 25 years of experience both in and out of the classroom as a teacher, parent, volunteer, and coach, including 5 years as the Girls Basketball coach for the Erie Rec Center. I bring a deep understanding of child development, communication and human connection to my work at the barn.
I am currently teaching at Dawson School in Boulder, CO, but I am most proud of my role as a mother to my 3 children, which continues to shape and inform my approach. Across both my personal and professional life, I have remained dedicated to fostering growth, building confidence and meaningful relationships in the people around me.
I found my way back to the barn about 10 years ago, when my daughter discovered her love of horses, reconnecting me to my inner child and the passion at the very heart of my work with horses and children. By integrating my background in education, my ability to connect with clients and my training in Equine Assisted learning (EAL), I have developed an individualized, compassionate, relationship-based approach, that supports personal growth through guided hands-on groundwork between the client and horse.
I grew up taking riding lessons and swimming at Meadows Country club, in Boulder. CO. I later worked as a lifeguard and swim team coach at Boulder Country Club, while swimming competitively for Fairview High School and trying out for the Univ. of Northern Colorado swim team. While water has always been a place where I've found focus and calm, as I enter this next chapter of my life, I've discovered that my time spent at the barn has become just as meaningful. Creating a space where I feel grounded, supported and calm!
Outside of the barn, I enjoy baking treats for others, practicing yoga, Dance Magic and spending time with my friends! Wildflowers, the Broncos and chocolate ice cream make me happy, but what I really love is being a mom and spending time together as a family! We love to play board games, travel and explore the outdoors, skiing and hiking.
